CHRISTENSON CHEVY COMMUNITY CORNER

This is the place to see some of the ways in which we try and give back to our community here in Northwest Indiana. The page is new, but the history of giving back to the region is old. Whether it's the Adoptathons we have with the Humane Society or the donation of a bus to Indiana University Northwest. This is the page to show off some of the ways we try to show our appreciation to such a great region. We thank you for your business and trust in us since 1951. It truly means everything to us.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH, we will be hosting an Adopt-a-thon with our friends from the Humane Society Calumet. It will be from 11 AM to 6 PM and even if you aren't interested in adopting an animal, you can still bring in much needed items. Such as;

Cat & Dog toys
Cat & Dog Food
Cat & Dog Treats
Blankets
Dog beds
Towels
Paper Towels
Brooms / Dust Pans
Windex
Bleach / Lysol
Garbage Bags
Latex gloves
Laundry detergent

Come on out and see the cute critters. We will have refreshments and the animals will be glad to see you. :-)

Rob Parkhurst presents a $500 from us here at Christenson Chevy as part of Chevy's 2011 Youth Baseball Program. This is a great program and you can purchase $5 tickets and get $10 off an oil change from us too. Plus fill out a ballot for a chance to help win a field make over for a little league field and be entered for a chance to win a new Chevy Cruze or Equinox. PLAY BALL!!!

CHRISTENSON CHEVY GIVES MORE CAMPAIGN

We had a charity drive for the Humane Society Calumet & South Lake Care Food Pantry. Our great customers and employees brought in all kinds of food, personal items, & toys to help families and animals in need. We also donated just over $1,000 to each organization. Giving is good. :-)

WINNER WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER!

Congratulations to Bill Zawada of Crown Point. He is the winner of this year's charity raffle Munster's Theatre at the Center. We donated a 2011 Malibu LTZ and proceeds will benefit all Theatre at the Center Mainstage productions, Theatre for Young Audiences and Education through Theatre programs and Special Events & Concerts. In the photo from left to right, Milford Christenson, (Christenson Chevrolet), Bill Zawada, (Raffle Winner), & Charlie Misovye, (Group Sales Coordinator for the theatre.)

Milford is at it again.

Purdue University Calumet has seen the emergence of new sports, new student-athletes and even new fans on campus this fall thanks in large part to the start of the school’s athletic expansion plan. However, the Peregrines’ latest feature comes courtesy of Milford Christenson, the owner of Christenson Chevrolet in Highland.

The renowned car dealer, located just minutes from campus, donated a 2011 Chevrolet Express to the university’s athletic department. The 15-passenger van will be used to transport several of the Peregrines’ athletic teams to competitions and other events around the region, while drastically reduce the costs that were expected to mount with the addition of eight new varsity programs as part of the expansion plan.

“This is a tremendous gift for our athletics’ program,” said athletic director Dr. Bob Bunnell. “Mr. Christenson has always been a great supporter of our program, and this gift speaks volumes for the generosity that he so often displayed to Purdue Calumet and the surrounding region.”

The van was decorated with several eye-popping decals designed by the Purdue Calumet graphic design department, showcasing the Peregrines’ athletic logos.

The Purdue Calumet athletic department has had a long-standing relationship with Christenson Chevrolet, as the Northwest Indiana car dealer currently loans out a rental car to Peregrines’ athletics for recruiting while also supplying several lucrative prizes at the university’s annual Powers-Purdue Calumet golf outing at Briar Ridge Country Club.

On July 17th, Chevrolet and participating dealers, like us at Christenson Chevrolet, sponsored a

Chevy Youth Baseball Clinic.

Our kids chose to go to the White Sox clinic and had a ball. As you can see in the pictures above.

Above are pictures from the 4th of July Parades we were in for 2010. We tossed out over 3,000 frisbees and I think everyone enjoyed the music to pump up the kids. :-)

We were in the Highland, Crown Point, and Griffith Parades. We were also in the Labor Day Parade for Lowell. But those pics are missing. :-(

Indiana University alumnus and donor Milford Christenson stands surrounded by IU Northwest RedHawk athletes in front of the 14-passenger Chevrolet Starcraft van that he donated from his auto dealership, Christenson Chevrolet in Highland, to the university's athletic program. On Aug. 27, IU Northwest officials and athletes presented Christenson with an award in recognition of his generous support of the program.
